Professional photographers takes time to master their skill in taking pictures. They are great in their field because they are professionals. But they are not the only person who have right in capturing beautiful pictures. Even you only have a low-tech camera or a cellphone camera you can still get great pictures if you will follow some guidelines in taking pictures. The basic rules are here:

Be aware on the background

If you are taking a picture of an object you should check if the background will draw more attention than your subject. The background should only support your main object. If the background is your main subject use the golden ratio rule.

Proper Use of the Light

If you know how to use light properly you have a potential. Light is one of the important factor of photography.  Some basic rule is don't shot against the light except when you want a silhouette effect. Use the flash of your camera when the light is not enough to see the subject.

Taking Pictures of Faces

Don't shoot a face directly or else it will look an ID picture. You can try to move the camera a little on the side for about three quarter view. This will make a good angle.

Be Aware of Your Focus

Remember that when you take pictures, you should emphasize your subject. You should set your focus correctly by getting closer to your subject filling the frame of your camera, in this way you can see what the picture is telling.

Proper Positioning

Putting the subject in the center is not a good idea. You may put slightly off center following the rule of thirds or golden ratio. You can also set imaginary grid lines on the screen of your camera to get the best position.

By following these tips, you can take pictures that will impress anyone. Capturing a beautiful picture using cheap cameras are more impressive. "Really? you just used your phone here? You're great! You're the man!"
